After a 15 year wait, Ford redesigned the Mustang, investing $700 million in style and performance improvements. The GT benefited from that redesign in a number of ways.
When it came to performance, the new GTís 5.0L engine produced 215 horsepower. Mustang GTs could accelerate from zero to 60 mph in around six seconds and complete a quarter mile in about 15 seconds. When it came to handling, this Mustang also featured a stiffer suspension, a 3.08:1 rear axle ratio and larger 16-inch wheels. Put all of the improvements together and you get the 1994 Motor Trend Car of the Year.
